Elders are responsible for assisting the Pastor in teaching, praying for the church body and shepherding the flock in spiritual matters. In addition, Elders assist the Pastor in the administration of communion and baptism, visit the sick and distressed members of the church as well as interview applicants for church membership and welcome new members into the congregation.
Qualifications for Elder are outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
Kevin Koskela - Chairman of the Elder Board
Kevin is currently the chairman of our Elder Board and also one of our Sunday morning worship leaders. In addition to worship, his passion is to encourage spiritual and relational growth among the body of Christ at Twain Harte EFC. He and his wife Sharon were married in 1982 and have two sons, Matthew and Andrew. Matthew is a sophomore at Azusa Pacific University and Andrew is a Senior at Summerville High School. Kevin works out of his home office as the VP of Applications and Services for Thoroughbred Software, a New Jersey based developer of small to medium sized business application software. In his spare time Kevin enjoys cooking, photography, fly fishing, driving his '67 Datsun Roadster and spending time outdoors. He is currently taking Spanish with his wife Sharon at Columbia College and is attempting to learn how to play guitar.
Keith Baier - Vice-Chairman of the Elder Board
Keith is the vice-chairman of our Elder Board and also runs sound for Sunday morning worship. Keith moved to Tuolumne County in 1974, living at Old Oak Ranch Camp until 1983. He graduated from Mother Lode Christian School in 1985 and attended Santa Rosa Jr. College. He and his wife, Julie, married in 1989 and have three children, Ben, Emily, and Molly. He began attending Twain Harte EFC in 1983 and has been on the board since 1993. He has worked as a cabinet and furniture maker before focusing on Hardwood Floors. He has owned his own business since 1991 and currently is the owner/contractor of Custom Hardwood Floors. Keith's favorite pastime is fly fishing, but he also enjoys backpacking, hunting, rafting, crabbing, welding and camping with his family.
Michael Torok
Michael was born in Sonora, and accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the age of five. He was raised in various parts of Tuolumne County and graduated from Summerville High School in 1983. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Aquatic Biology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1988. He also earned a Master of Science degree in Marine Science from Moss Landing Marine Laboratories in 1994. He is currently employed as the Interim Dean for Instructional Services in the Arts & Sciences Division at Columbia College. Michael and his wife Stephanie have two wonderful children, Joshua (15) and Rayanna (11). As he has grown in Christ, he has been active in a variety of church activities over the years. The primary focus of these activities has been Christian education for both adults and youth. Michael is currently serving as one of the Elders for Twain Harte EFC. Personal interests include spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing.
Rick Thoma
The Thoma family began attending Twain Harte EFC in 2003 after being transferred to Tuolumne County by his employer as an officer of the California Highway Patrol. Rick and his wife Christy were married in 1996 and have four young children. Rick grew up in Gilroy, CA and came to know the Lord as his Savior as a young boy while attending Hillside Church in Morgan Hill, CA. Rick is the newest elder at Twain Harte Evangelical Free Church and is the secretary of the board of Elders.
