Earl & Janet have taken some time off from SOWERs projects over this past winter to deal with some of Earl's health issues and caring for Janet's mom. HOWEVER, they continue to minister to the needs of those in their hometown of Malad, ID by encouraging those who don't know the Lord and be an example of Christ in their community. They have volunteered at the hospital, library and the senior center. During their daily walks they pick up litter and pull weeds.
They have also cleared a small lot by the old hotel and in a town as small as Malad, it has created a lot of conversation between the locals and those that the Robb's meet. They even did a little write-up in the local paper and the Robb's were able to mention their church and SOWERs. To God be the Glory!
They now have Janet's mom settled in a long-term care facility. And are ministering to her brother's family who has had a crisis. Their plans are to go back to volunteering with SOWERs in October and see how things go from there.
As our name states, Servants On Wheels Ever Ready (SOWERS) are first and foremost SERVANTS…people with a true missionary heart who are more interested in serving others than accommodating their own desires. We are all SERVANTS and we choose to serve in the SOWER Ministry. We are born again Christians who have recreational vehicles (RVs), are self-supported, and are retired or semi-retired. We delight in serving the Lord by using our various acquired skills and God-given gifts to perform volunteer work on selected projects at various Christian ministries. We enjoy the RV lifestyle and the adventure of traveling throughout the United States and North America. Some of us are full-time RVers while others maintain homes and travel periodically to work at projects.
Some men have spent their lives working in the construction trades while others are knowledgeable, semi-knowledgeable, “weekend warriors”, or just plain handy persons when it comes to working with power and hand tools. The ladies are encouraged to use their acquired skills of sewing, painting, gardening, office work, cleaning, etc.
Only married couples (one man and one woman) may apply for membership in the SOWER ministry, and each spouse must complete and sign a separate application. Although wives are not required to work, they must complete the application.
All of us consider ourselves blessed to be able to combine our joy of RVing with our desire to fellowship with other like-minded believers and we all love to serve our Lord.
